Dr Burns joined the practice in September 2012.  He was originally brought up in Stratford-On-Avon in the UK.  He graduated from the University of Southampton in 1991.  He completed general practice training in West Sussex and gained membership of the Royal College of GPs in 1995.  He then spent 17 years in full-time practice in Kent, UK.  He is married to Katie and they have three children.

Dr Bill Cartledge

Dr Bill Cartledge

Dr Cartledge joined the Practice from Dereham, Norfolk, UK in December 2011.  He originally trained at the University of Birmingham, qualifying in 1994.  He then trained as a GP in Hereford, gaining Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (with distinction) and then relocated to Norfolk in 1998, where he's been ever since.  His special interest is ophthalmology (eyes).  Bill is married to Wendy (a health service manager and dermatology specialist nurse) and they have 2 children - Ellla and Huw.  When not doctoring, Bill enjoys tramping, cycling and photography.  He is also an armchair cricket and rugby fan, lacking talent for the former and the physique for the latter.

Dr. Jackelien Geerlings

Dr. Jackelien Geerlings

Dr Geerlings joined the team in December 2016. She originally trained at the University of Leiden and graduated as a GP in October 2015. Before coming to Stratford she was working as a roving locum GP in the south western part of The Netherlands for a year. After working hours she likes horse-riding, playing tennis, biking and running. She just completed her first half marathon here in Taranaki. She also really enjoys going to music concerts and doing some photography.

Dr Rikke Jensen

Dr Rikke Jensen

I’m a 46-year-old Danish doctor who will be in your practice for one year. I live in New Plymouth with my husband Ulf, who is a journalist, and our four children. We came to New Zealand because we once had a kiwi exchange student in our high school. She always talked about her beautiful country with all the great outdoor activities. We have been dreaming of visiting New Zealand ever since!

So when the opportunity came for me to have a locum to cover my own practice back home, we packed our suitcases and came on an adventure.

I’m already enjoying New Zealand very much. Besides me working, we plan to see as much of New Zealand as possible while we are here. The things I enjoy include:

  • Tramping
  • Swimming
  • Horseback riding
  • Skiing

I am also greatly looking forward to trying surfing and climbing Mt. Taranaki in the summer.
